How can I free the blackbird who's stuck in my feeder?
June 21, 2011 Seed Bird Feeder
A blackbird climbed into my feeder and got stuck! It’s supposed to be squirrel and big bird proof, but the squirrel can pop the lid off of the thing faster than I can fasten it on. And when the lid is off, the birds climb down the center tube and get seeds that way, instead of having to climb through the mesh to get to it.
The blackbird climbed down and can’t climb back up! He’s been stuck a few hours now, and I don’t think he’s getting out on his own. What can I do?

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.
Try taking down the feeder and laying it on the ground horizontally.
Maybe this way the bird will be able to walk out.
If you can’t get him out after like two days you should consider breaking open the feeder, or calling animal control.
get garden shears and cut the tube open then let the bird free itself. if the bird starts flapping around when your cutting let it calm down and give it seed to focus on. while its distracted you should be able to free it
